Here's a list of to-dos to help manage the wedding planning process

- Set a date.
- Determine your wedding style and colors.
- Hire a wedding planner.
- Set up a budget.
- Compile your final guest list.
- Create a web page to announce your wedding.
- Choose your wedding party.
- Have an engagement party.
- Book your ceremony and reception locations.
- Book your officiant.
9 to 11 months
- Send out save-the-date cards.
- Book your caterer.
- Book your entertainment.
- Book your florist.
- Book your photographer and videographer.
6 to 8 months
- Buy your gown.
- Determine your menu.
- Book your cake baker.
- Book your transportation.
- Book your ceremony musicians.
- Buy bridesmaid dresses.
- Register for gifts.
4 to 5 months
- Make honeymoon arrangements.
- Rent or buy formalwear.
- Order your invitations.
- Order your wedding bands.
- Hire a calligrapher, if using.
- Reserve tables, chairs, and/or other rental equipment you'll need.
3 months
- Finalize the guest list.
- Appoint ushers and other ceremony helpers.
- Mail out invitations.
- Book your hairstylist and makeup artist.
- Decide on and buy accessories for wedding party.
- Finalize postwedding brunch details, if having one.
- Finalize rehearsal dinner details.
1 to 2 months
- Discuss your vows -- will you write your own or recite traditional ones?
- Purchase gifts for parents, attendants, and other special guests.
- Have your final gown fitting.
- Order welcome baskets.
- Have your wedding shower and/or bachelor/bachelorette party.
- Order favors.
- Have your bridal shower.
- Finalize your floral proposal.
1 to 2 weeks
- Apply for a marriage license.
- Call guests who haven't RSVP'd.
- Assemble day-of emergency kit (Maid of Honor could do this).
- Determine day-of assignments for the wedding party.
- Call location manager and make sure your vendors have access to the site when they need it.
- Finalize seating chart and get it to reception site manager.
- Check in with all vendors and confirm all details.
- Assemble or package favors.
3 to 7 days
- Rent your formalwear.
- Have your rehearsal dinner.
- Finalize all transportation details.
- Pack for your honeymoon.
- Set aside tips for your vendors.
